Introducing Dr. Niranjan Sharma

Welcome to Dunedin’s premier Skin and Surgery Clinic, led by Dr Niranjan Sharma who has extensive training in gastrointestinal and organ transplant surgery, as well as specialised expertise in skin cancer medicine.  Dr Niranjan Sharma is committed to providing exceptional care for a wide range of conditions. 

He obtained his medical degree in his home country of Nepal.  He completed further advanced surgical training in gastrointestinal and organ transplant surgery in Japan and has a PhD in this field.

He has worked as an Assistant Surgeon in Japan before moving to New Zealand.  After working as a Surgical Registrar in Wellington, he chose General Practice as a career – for a better work and life balance.  He moved to Dunedin in 2000 with his family.  He completed his Fellowship in General Practice from the Royal New Zealand College of General Practice in 2010 and Royal Australian College of Australia in 2016.  He has undertaken additional training in skin cancer medicine, surgery and Dermoscopy.

He has a special interest in skin diseases and minor surgery for skin cancer (and non-cancerous) lesions, and other lumps and bumps.  He performs the Vandenboss Procedure for ingrown toenail.  He performs No Needle,No Scalpel Vasectomy, circumcision under local anesthesia.

He is WellSouth Primary Health Network Accredited GP with Special Interest in Skin [GPSI]. In his leisure time, he likes spend time with family and friends.  He is fluent in Nepali, Japanese and Hindi languages beside English. He is a keen tramper.  He likes to travel and meet people from different walks of life during leisure time.
